Boots UK has launched a £65 home-use PCR coronavirus test aimed at those looking to travel abroad this summer.

With rules around international travel set to relax on Monday (May 17), the multiple is making the home testing kits available to asymptomatic individuals from boots.com for next-day delivery and from over 500 stores.

After the customer takes their sample at home, they most post it to a lab, which will provide a result within 24-48 hours of receiving it.

The new service is being launched in addition to a £99 in-store PCR testing service available from over 200 stores and a £79.99 in-store rapid antigen testing service, which provides results on the day of testing and is available from around 15 stores.

All three tests can be used as a pre-flight testing service “depending on the specific requirements of the destination country and airline,” said Boots.

The multiple is also now an accredited test provider for the Government’s Test to Release scheme whereby people returning to the UK can reduce their quarantine by taking a test five days after they arrive. Later this month it will offer tests to people at day 2 and day 8 after arriving back in the UK.

Boots UK director of healthcare services Asif Aziz said: “Now that holidaymakers can start planning a summer holiday abroad, we look forward to helping them stay safe when travelling. With a negative Covid-19 test result becoming the norm for international travel, we have increased our testing services to make them even more accessible for customers.

“Regular testing is also really important for everyone as we move out of lockdown, which is why we are proudly supporting the Government to offer free, rapid tests at our pharmacies in England through the Pharmacy Collect scheme.”
